Your at-a-glance overview of website performance.

Overview

The Dashboard is the first screen you see when logging into Ghost Metrics. It provides a quick summary of your website’s key metrics, giving you an immediate sense of how your site is performing.

Dashboard Widgets

Visits Overview

The main graph showing traffic over time. By default, it displays:

  • Visits — Total number of sessions
  • Unique Visitors — Individual people who visited
  • Pageviews — Total pages viewed
  • Average Visit Duration — How long visitors typically stay
  • Bounce Rate — Percentage of single-page visits

Hover over the graph to see specific values for each day.

Real-Time Visitors

A live count of visitors currently on your website. Click to see:

  • Which pages they’re viewing
  • Where they came from
  • Their location and device

Real-time data updates every few seconds.

Visits by Time

Shows when your visitors are most active:

  • By Day of Week — Which days get the most traffic
  • By Time of Day — Peak hours for your site

Useful for scheduling content, campaigns, and support coverage.

Traffic Sources

A breakdown of where your traffic comes from:

  • Search Engines — Google, Bing, etc.
  • Direct — Typed URL or bookmarks
  • Websites — Referral links from other sites
  • Campaigns — UTM-tagged marketing campaigns
  • Social Networks — Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.

Top Pages

Your most viewed pages ranked by pageviews. Quickly see which content resonates with visitors.

Visitor Map

Geographic distribution of your visitors displayed on a world map. Click any country to drill down to regions and cities.

Devices

Breakdown of visitors by:

  • Device Type — Desktop, mobile, tablet
  • Browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.
  • Operating System — Windows, macOS, iOS, Android

Changing the Date Range

By default, the dashboard shows the last 7 days. To change the date range:

  1. Click the date range selector in the horizontal menu bar (e.g., “FROM 2026-01-01 TO 2026-01-07”)
  2. Choose a preset range (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, etc.)
  3. Or select custom dates using the calendar

Comparing Periods

To compare performance against a previous period:

  1. Select your primary date range
  2. Check “Compare to” and select a comparison period
  3. The dashboard will show both periods with percentage changes

This is useful for seeing trends — is traffic up or down compared to last month?

Switching Between Websites

If you have access to multiple websites:

  1. Click the website name in the top left
  2. Select a different website from the dropdown
  3. The dashboard will refresh with that site’s data

Customizing the Dashboard

You can personalize your dashboard by adding, removing, or rearranging widgets:

  1. Click the gear icon or “Customize” option
  2. Drag widgets to rearrange their position
  3. Add new widgets from the available options
  4. Remove widgets you don’t need

Your customizations are saved to your account.

Exporting Dashboard Data

To export data from the dashboard:

  1. Click on any widget to open its detailed view
  2. Look for the export icon (usually a download arrow)
  3. Choose your format (CSV, Excel, etc.)
